Ecoplan (Senegal)

“The DISEZ region has been framed through managerial regions differentiated by topographic condition and ecologic potential. The main aim has been to develop a serie of strategic pilot projects or catalytic prototypes within these frameworks, turning the sites into models for the generation of a larger urban co-action plan.”

“Ecosystemic Masterplanning, DISEZ region, Senegal. In collaboration with One Works architects. Responding to the brief of a long term urbanization plan for this rural region of Senegal, the work has focused on the exploration of systemic planning strategies and urban development methods. The DISEZ region has been framed through managerial regions differentiated by topographic condition and ecologic potential. The main aim has been to develop a serie of strategic pilot projects or catalytic prototypes within these frameworks, turning the sites into models for the generation of a larger urban co-action plan. The project of the regional eco-plan is generated through the interaction of 3 main components, dealing with different levels of complexity:
-Strategic diagramming (definition of specific territorial relationships which will set up the intentions of the projects)
-Mapping (indentification of environmental and social dynamics on site)
-Prototyping (development of a toolbox of specific prototypes or pilot projects responding to the identified dynamics).”
